Cartiva™ SCI MOTION Study
A Prospective, Randomized, Non-Inferiority Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness of
Cartiva™ Synthetic Cartilage Implant in the Treatment of First Metatarsophalangeal
Joint Osteoarthritis as
Compared to a Control.
Carticept is conducting the MOTION study to compare the effectiveness of the Cartiva™ Synthetic Cartilage Implant to an arthrodesis control in the treatment of patients with osteoarthritis of the great toe, specifically the following clinical conditions: hallux valgus or hallux limitus, hallux rigidus, and an unstable or painful metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint.
This is a prospective, randomized, controlled, multicenter trial. Patients are currently being enrolled in Canada. Carticept plans to expand the trial in 2010 to include sites in the United Kingdom.
